Microsoft's Outlook Express program is used by a large majority of people for their e-mail.
To set up Outlook Express for use with your PRIS e-mail account, please follow the instructions below.
- Open up you Outlook Express program.
- If this is the first time you've used Outlook Express, the Connection Wizard may open. If not, click
Tools from the menu bar and select Accounts from the drop down menu.
- Click the Mail tab.
- Click the Add button and choose Mail from the drop down menu.
The Internet Connection Wizard should pop up.
- Enter your name as you would like it to appear on your e-mail, then click the Next button.
- Enter your PRIS e-mail address.
Your e-mail address takes the form of your_user_name@pris.ca (see picture below).
Click Next.
- Your incoming mail server needs to be set to the POP3 server type.
Both your "Incoming (POP3, IMAP or HTTP) server:" and "Outgoing (SMTP) server" should be set to: mail.pris.ca
Click Next.
- The Internet Mail Logon window is displayed.
Enter your PRIS userid (user name) into the Account name: text entry box, and your PRIS password
into the into the Password: box.
Please do not put a checkmark the "Logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA)" box - your mail account will
not work
if you do.
Click Next.
- Windows will congratulate you on successfully setting up the connection. Click Finish
- At this time, it would be a good idea to set up the default connection for Outlook Express to use. To do this,
click the Properties button.
- Select the Connection tab, then put a checkmark in the Always connect to this account using: box.
If you have a high speed connection such as the ADSL or the PRiS Wireless Internet service, you should select Local Area
Network. If you have a dialup account, you should select the dialup connection (usually named PRiS).
Click the Apply button to save the changes.
- Click the Close button to return to the Outlook Express main window.
- You are now set up to use the PRIS mail server for sending and receiving your e-mail using the Outlook Express
program.
Click the Send/Recv icon.
If you have a high speed connection, Outlook Express should now check for new mail and download it. If you're using
a dialup connection, a connection window should pop up, and you can click the Connect or Dial buttons to connect
and receive your e-mail.
